Barack Obama Posts Sweet, Candid Photos To Celebrate Michelle Obamas Birthday

Former First Lady Michelle Obama turned 56 on Friday, and her husband – former President Barack Obama – marked the occasion by posting four candid never-before-seen pics of the couple along with a special message.

“In every scene, you are my star, @MichelleObama!” wrote the former POTUS. “Happy birthday, baby!”

According to People magazine, the pics were taken at a 4th of July party when Barack and Michelle Obama were still in the White House.

The former FLOTUS also posted a pic to celebrate her birthday. The photo featured Mrs. Obama on a hike with a group of friends with a rainbow in the sky behind them.

“Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes!” she wrote. “With the girls off at college, this birthday brings with it a new perspective—a fresh breath—along my journey. I’m looking forward to devoting some quality time to my friends and to myself—and of course, to that husband of mine, too.”

The past year has been an eventful one for Mrs. Obama. Not only did she tour the world in support of her best-selling memoir Becoming, but she also earned a Grammy nomination in the best spoken word album category for the audiobook.

People magazine named Mrs. Obama one of their “People of the Year,” and a nationwide Gallup poll named her the country’s “most admired woman.” Barack and Michelle’s new production company Higher Ground also received an Oscar nomination earlier this week for their Netflix documentary American Factory.

Mrs. Obama also traveled to Asia in December along with Today co-host and former first daughter Jenna Bush Hager and Oscar-winning actress Julia Roberts to promote education for young women.

One of the biggest life changes for the Obamas this year was becoming empty nesters. The couple dropped off their youngest daughter Sasha at college in August, and then they purchased an $11.75 million, seven-bedroom mansion on Martha’s Vineyard.

In her birthday post, Michelle said that she is looking forward to making 2020 the best year yet, and she can’t wait to keep fans posted along the way.

Oscar nominees Barack and Michelle Obama will walk the red carpet at the 92nd annual Academy Awards, which airs live from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on February 9th on ABC.
