Dunkirk Star Mark Rylance Calls Harry Styles Remarkable and Brave

For the last (almost) six years Harry Styles has been wowing people all across the world with his indescribable vocals and his amazing stage presence. He’s toured the world with his best mates Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan, written and performed some of music’s most beautiful songs, and absolutely recreated what it means to be a young celebrity and still have a heart of gold in the industry.

Harry has said, on more than one occasion, that he hates the word famous – and for reasons unlike one might first assume.  He doesn’t hate the word because of he feels robbed of some young adult normalcy and he doesn’t think he owes the word anything at all – he hates it because of the connotation that frequently comes along with it, and how it’s rarely a good one.

I feel like when people lable people as famous they take away a lot of substance that they have a person so that you don’t think of or remember someone as ‘he was funny’ or ‘they were really nice and giving’ it’s like ‘they were famous’ and it becomes a thing where anything after that, whatever you choose to do afterwards if it’s not as famous or more famous then it was before, you’re considered a failure and that’s a shame because it’s not a failure always.

His sentiment about the word hasn’t changed as Harry has grown up, but some facets of his personality have. When Harry was first thrust into overnight stardom, he worried a lot about what others thought about him, what they said, and why – even with his heart of gold – some people seemed hell bent on speaking negatively of his beautiful spirit.

These days, Harry is more confident and while unfortunately, the negativity still exists – he finds solace in the kindness of his own heart and that of others too, and it seems like people from all walks of life have great things to say about Harry.

Most recently, rumors have been spreading about the way the cast and crew of the highly anticipated film, Dunkirk, have taken to Harry and been impressed with everything from his acting to his incredibly large heart.  These rumors come as no surprise as while on tour with One Direction, everyone from stage hands to the cooking staff and even hired staff at each venue spoke very high of Harry’s compassion and humble nature.

When Harry is passionate about something, it’s evident in everything that he does, and his new project as a breakthrough actor is no different.

Mark Rylance, who is not only a winner of Tony and Oliver Awards but also an Oscar – and was named one of Time’s 100 Most Influential People, sang Harry’s praises during an interview recently and it was a proud moment for everyone who loves him.

“I didn’t know anything about him really other than my 12-year-old niece played me a music video. She adores him. There are girls all over the place trying to get to him — he is one handsome fella with an incredible smile and eyes.

What’s really surprised me is he’s really witty, really funny — he really makes me laugh. He’s been ever so brave, not making any fuss.

He seems remarkable … one of those people [who has] — Sean Penn has it too — a kind of panache. I look at them and think, ‘How did you get that? How do you get so that life is easy?’ But he has got a lovely, lovely character. It’s a gift.”

We certainly never get tired of hearing nice things about Harry, there are few people in this world more deserving of genuine and all encompassing kindness.  And when compliments like that come from a person of the caliber Mark Rylance has, well, it’s that much more incredible.

Harry, thank you for constantly being a shining (golden) example of what it means to live life in a way that speaks only of love, compassion, and acceptance – and setting an example for all of us to do the same.
