Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week 13: Streamers, Treylon Burks, JaMycal Hasty and more

Read the latest fantasy football waiver wire pickups advice.

As the fantasy football playoffs get closer, waivers are getting thinner and more head-scratching. In fact, I think we need some flow charts to get through all the Week 13 waiver wire pickups.

HEADS UP

  • Players must be under 60% rostered on Yahoo
  • Listed in order of preference — I’ll often prioritize potential upside over immediate middling production
  • No FAB suggestions: It varies wildly by league tendencies and always relative (ex: if you lost your RB1 to injury and there is a clear backup, you’re going to be more aggressive)
  • Streaming QB and TE are grouped together— their ranking might change slightly once projections/ranks run, and DST could shift a bit too
  • Emojis
    • 😤 = I Tried to Tell Ya — players included for several weeks (not much more to add if you don’t want them)
    • 🧐 = Check if Dropped — players whose managers might have cut for other need or impatient

WORRY REPORT
More DUCKS
🦆 (1-5) = More Concern (woo-hoo!)
Egg
🥚 = 1/2… or about to birth a new concern duck

  • Christian McCaffrey, RB, SF 🦆🦆🥚 — Even with Elijah essentially done for the year, McCaffrey’s workload likely won’t approach his second 49ers game. CMC already got dinged up himself, and the 49ers want him healthy for the playoff run, even though fantasy managers want him freed of the Shanahanigans.
  • Alvin Kamara, RB, NO 🦆🦆🦆🦆 Jameis Winston was better for Kamara, and while the Saints have one of the best playoff schedules for running backs, Kamara is averaging 9 carries, 28 rushing yards, 4 receptions, 34 receiving yards and 8.2 FPPG over the past four games.
  • Dameon Pierce, RB, HOU ♾️🦆 — The rookie wall isn’t real for everyone, but it feels real for Pierce, who matched his single-season college high in touches by Week 7 and has 20 touches for just 33 yards over the past two games. The Texans aren’t utilizing Pierce much in the passing game of late either.
  • Curtis Samuel, WR, WSH 🦆🦆🦆🦆🦆 Jahan Dotson isn’t seeing many targets since returning, but the difference from Carson Wentz to Taylor Heinicke for Samuel is pretty rough.

BYES: ARI, CAR

STREAMING QUARTERBACK RANKINGS

There are very few quarterbacks under the 60% threshold at this point, and it’s smart of managers to have backup plans with the byes winding down and the playoffs drawing near. With it being time to think about rostering your backup, here are the 60% rostered (and lower) quarterbacks ranked by who I’d stash.

  • Deshaun Watson, CLE
  • Marcus Mariota, ATL
  • Taylor Heinicke, WSH
  • Trevor Lawrence, JAX — 1% over 60%
  • Mike White, NYJ
  • Ryan Tannehill, TEN
  • Jared Goff, DET
  • Kenny Pickett, PIT
  • Matt Ryan, IND
  • WAIVER WIRE RUNNING BACK RANKS

  • Jaylen Warren, Benny Snell and Anthony McFarland, PIT — If Najee Harris is out… hold on, here we go. If Warren can return (hamstring) he would step in and be an RB2. Snell would likely be next up and get a few touches behind Warren, though McFarland could steal a few too. If Warren can’t return and Harris is out, Snell and McFarland would split work as they did on Monday night, capping the upside of both. Warren would be an RB2 if back, and if not, Snell and McFarland would be RB3s with Snell closer to the RB2 group (down in the Jets mix or behind them, depending)… mainly thanks to the Falcons matchup in Week 13. Flowcharts are coming… sheesh.
  • J.K. Dobbins, BAL — 🧐 Eligible to return. Dobbins could step right into a timeshare with Gus Edwards, which would cap them both as fringe RB2/3s with weekly touchdown-reliant RB1 upside. The potential ceiling for Dobbins is to get a 60-65% lead share, which would guarantee weekly Top 20 value.
  • Gus Edwards, BAL 😤 Even if J.K. Dobbins returns, a healthy Edwards is in play for his upside and touchdown potential. In the aforementioned 60/40 or 65/35 split with Dobbins, Edwards would be similar to Elijah Mitchell before he got hurt again.
  • Zamir White, LV — This is in case Josh Jacobs can’t play in Week 13 (calf). Ameer Abdullah would keep his role in the passing game and change of pace, but White would be the power lead. He’s built like a tank and like to take on tacklers with some Damien Harris similarities. White ranks here as a potential one-week replacement.
  • Khalil Herbert, CHI — 🧐 Close to a return, and while his use was unpredictable, Herbert was a weekly dart throw option with RB1 upside.
  • Kyren Williams, LAR — The Rams are a mess, but Sean McVay has loved Williams since the draft and is giving him the chance to lead this backfield.
  • Tyler Allgeier, ATL — 😤 Surprised Allgeier is under 60%. I’m not sure if many dropped him, but the timeshare with Cordarrelle Patterson isn’t going away, nor is the Falcons’ insistence on running no matter the score.
  • James Robinson, Zonovan Knight and Ty Johnson, NYJ — If Michael Carter is out, Knight would step in as the lead with good ability, pop through the line and solid hands. That said, Ty Johnson likely shares a few touches and keeps his limited passing game role alongside Knight (his use didn’t change when Carter left the game). Of course, this hinges on James Robinson not being active… which we’re still waiting for word on the surprise healthy scratch. Knight is near the top as a one-week play if Carter is out and Robinson is done as an option. Knight ranks here on the stash/timeshare potential if Carter returns for Week 13 or Carter is out and Robinson returns as the lead. Johnson is merely a deep PPR option if Carter and JRob are out… sigh… I need a flowchart this week.
  • Mike Boone, DEN — 🧐 The Broncos used Boone quite a bit before his injury, and now they’re down to Latavius Murray and scraps. Boone should share the backfield, and I wouldn’t put it past the team to have Boone lead based on the matchup.
  • Chuba Hubbard, CAR — It’s unlikely the Panthers reach 46 rush attempts each week… or ever again this year… but they have a decent remaining schedule which will let them lean on D’Onta Foreman and Hubbard, and not on Sam Darnold’s arm.
  • Darrell Henderson, JaMycal Hasty and Snoop Conner, JAX — The report is that Travis Etienne is not dealing with a Lisfranc issue, but the fact they needed to mention that makes it a bit concerning. If Etienne misses time, Henderson could be the lead and first replacement — assuming he’s ready to go for the Jaguars — seeing an Etienne-like workload. If Henderson doesn’t get the opportunity, Conner would likely split with Hasty and lead more of the short-yard and tougher carries. As long as Etienne plays, Henderson (again if ready) or Hasty would see a share of the work. Henderson would have RB2 upside as the lead and no Etienne, while Conner and Hasty would be RB3s with differing roles, and Hasty with the ceiling.
  • Melvin Gordon, KC — 🧐 Experience to push Jerick McKinnon for a timeshare role with Isiah Pacheco, and upside to be an RB2 if Pacheco missed time.
  • Tyrion Davis-Price and Jordan Mason, SF — Mitchell is out, and the 49ers have shown that they don’t want McCaffrey to eat everything in the backfield, as he was dinged up in Week 12 anyway. Mason or TDP is next up. Kyle Shanahan and reporters have noted Mason being active for his special teams work, so the 49ers could turn to Davis-Price for touches first (with both active). Stash both where you can, but if you’re going with just one, many believe TDP is the true backup. Now watch it be Tevin Coleman.
  • Cam Akers, LAR — 🧐 Currently a timeshare with Williams, but way lower of a ceiling, as Williams gets all the passing game work and could end up with bellcow work.
  • Eno Benjamin, HOU Rex Burkhead has a concussion and Dare Ogunbowale isn’t much less disappointing than Pierce, and Benjamin looked good at times replacing James Conner in Arizona.
  • BACKUP STASHES
(Ranked on upside if the starter)

I’ve hammered home the point about stashing all the backups you can at this point, and Samaje Perine is yet another example of why you shouldn’t wait. Below is a rank of backups — even some already in timeshares. If you don’t need a starter…

  • AJ Dillon, GB
  • Alexander Mattison, MIN
  • Raheem Mostert, MIA
  • Samaje Perine, CIN
  • Jaylen Warren, PIT
  • James Cook, BUF
  • Melvin Gordon, KC
  • Zamir White, LV
  • Deon Jackson, IND
  • Matt Breida, NYG
  • Eno Benjamin, HOU
  • Boston Scott, PHI
  • Chuba Hubbard, CAR
  • Jordan Mason, SF
  • Dontrell Hilliard, TEN
  • Travis Homer, SEA
  • WAIVER WIRE WIDE RECEIVER RANKS

  • Treylon Burks, TEN — 😤
  • Darius Slayton, NYG — 😤
  • Parris Campbell, IND — 😤 Yes, still. Since his Week 6 breakout, it was Campbell’s first awful game… with Matt Ryan.
  • Mecole Hardman, Kadarius Toney, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, KC — It’s almost impossible to project any consistency after Travis Kelce and JuJu Smith-Schuster, and even JJSS isn’t “safe.” This is the order I’d put the Chiefs in if everyone was/is healthy. Hardman would be in the WR3 range, Toney and MVS in the WR4 range.
  • Jameson Williams, DET — The reports now say Williams is a long shot for Week 13. Nevertheless, Williams has Top 30 upside as soon as he steps on the field.
  • Elijah Moore, NYJ — 🧐 Was fifth in TmTGT% (behind Garrett Wilson, the backfield, Tyler Conklin and Corey Davis), but Moore has Top 30 upside, making him a worthy stash to see if Mike White looks his way… more.
  • Michael Gallup, DAL — 🧐 Starting to turn the corner a bit with a combined line of 25-16-188 and 26.8 points in the past four games. If Odell Beckham doesn’t sign with the Cowboys, Gallup could be a WR3 down the stretch if things improve just a bit more.
  • Mack Hollins, LV — Mentioned last week, he’s an upside fringe WR3/4 as the No. 2 receiver for the Raiders.
  • Nico Collins, HOU — 😤
  • Zay Jones, JAX — 😤 Been here all year.
  • Van Jefferson, LAR — As with Kyren Williams, this is a bit of the last man standing on a sinking ship.
  • DeAndre Carter, LAC — Boom/bust WR4 as long as Mike Williams (and/or Keenan Allen again) is out.
  • Julio Jones, TB — Essentially a high-end backup at receiver, as Jones could be a must-start if Chris Godwin or Mike Evans ever got hurt.
  • DeVante Parker, NE — When healthy, Parker has hit a few times (five scores of 8.3+ in six games with at least 76% of the snaps), but the health and consistency are both elusive.
  • Jarvis Landry, NO — Only a stash if the Saints go back to Jameis Winston. It was the 49ers in Week 12, sure, but it’s still been mostly rough for anyone not named Chris Olave or Juwan Johnson with Andy Dalton at quarterback.
  • Odell Beckham, FA — 😤 Could sign this week… though, he might need to stay on a plane to his new city to make it happen.
  • MEH 😒 NO THANKS

    • Isaiah McKenzie, BUF — McKenzie hadn’t hit double-digits since Week 4 and only twice topped 3.1 points in that stretch (7.5 each time).
    • Nelson Agholor, NE — Even with his opportunity share ticking up, it was only Agholor’s second good game of the season.
